Dedé Lins
1972, Salvador de Bahia, Brazil
Lives and works in Barcelona, Spain
Dedé Lins works at the intersection of art and design. From this last discipline he extracts the technical and conceptual tools that allow him to transform it and operate it from a symbolic, systematic and synthesizing purpose.
Currently, he uses various industrial materials as tools - adhesive tape, paint, aluminum sheets - creating a geometric dialogue of lines and colors, the result of the fusion of contemporary influences such as design, fashion, pop art and street-art. In addition, Lins is influenced by Brazilian concrete art and also by African art present in the Afro-Brazilian culture of his native city, Salvador de Bahia.
He participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions, including: Urban Geometries, Galería Zielinsky, Barcelona; Carpintaria para Todos, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Veinte 20, Galería Sa Fabrica, Menorca, Spain; Festival de Nuevo Arte Brasileño - 5th edition, La Escocesa, Barcelona, Spain; 101 Bibendum, Convent of Sant Augusti, Barcelona, Spain; among others. In 2010, he was a resident artist in Angola during the 2nd Luanda Triennale.
